Application of Storytelling Model and Hand Puppet Media in Learning Speaking Skills

This study aims to describe: 1) the learning outcomes of speaking skills before using the storytelling method and hand puppet media; 2) the learning outcomes of speaking skills after using the storytelling method and hand puppet media; 3) the effectiveness of the storytelling method and hand puppet media in learning speaking skills. This study took place in the odd semester of the 2025/2026 academic year at SDN Sindangraja 1. This study used a descriptive-quantitative through a pretest-posttest design in the control class. The study population was 22 students of class 3-a as the control group and 28 students of class 3-b as the treatment group who took the pretest, speaking skills learning, and took the posttest. The sample was determined at 46 students based on a statistical formula; divided into 20 students in the control group and 26 students in the treatment group. Speaking skills data for all types of tests were collected using a performance test instrument. Speaking skills data were analyzed using parametric inferential statistics preceded by the requirements test, namely the normality test and the homogeneity test. Research findings: 1) the learning outcomes of speaking skills before using the storytelling method and hand puppet media for the pretest were 12.45 which is equivalent to a standard score of 62.25 percent (categorized as low) while the mean posttest was 13.55 which is equivalent to a standard score of 67.75 percent which is categorized as low to medium; 2) the learning outcomes of speaking skills after using the storytelling method and hand puppet media for the pretest were 12.52 which is equivalent to a standard score of 62.59 percent (categorized as low) and the mean posttest was 17.45 which is equivalent to a standard score of 87.24 percent which is categorized as high; 3) the storytelling method and hand puppet media have been proven to be effective in teaching speaking skills for class 3 of SDN Sindangraja 1.

Implementation of the Integration of the Inquiry Learning Model Based on Digital Storytelling in Arabic Language Learning

This study aims to describe: 1) the integration of the inquiry learning model in Arabic language learning based on digital storytelling; 2) the effect of implementing the digital storytelling-based inquiry model on Arabic language skills and critical thinking skills; 3) student responses to Arabic language learning that integrates the inquiry model with video storytelling. The study was conducted at Al Umm Smart Center Junior High School, Tembung, in the even semester of the 2025/2026 academic year. The study population was 63 eighth-grade students. A sample of 30 students was selected using a purposive sampling technique. The research instruments used included observation sheets, student response questionnaires, interview guidelines, and speaking and listening skill tests. In addition, documentation in the form of student assignments was also used as supporting data. Data analysis used a descriptive qualitative approach through data reduction, data analysis, and conclusion drawing. Research results: 1) Integrating the inquiry model into digital storytelling-based Arabic language learning can improve student engagement, critical thinking skills, and Arabic listening skills (maharah istima') and speaking skills (maharah kalam); 2) The digital storytelling-based inquiry model impacts Arabic language skills and critical thinking skills; 3) positive responses to the use of video storytelling media are seen as engaging, contextual, and facilitate understanding of the material.

The Effect of Interactive Digital News Mapping Media on News Text Writing Skills

This study aims to determine: 1) the news text writing skills of class XII-AP students of SMK Pariwisata Imelda Medan before using interactive digital news mapping media; 2) the news text writing skills of class XII-AP students of SMK Pariwisata Imelda Medan after using interactive digital news mapping media; 3) the effect of using interactive digital news mapping media on news text writing skills. The research approach applied in this study is a quantitative approach through a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest design. This approach and design were used to determine the effect of using interactive digital news mapping media on news text writing skills. The population of this study was class XII-AP students of SMK Pariwisata Imelda Medan who participated in pretest activities for news text reading skills and participated in learning news text writing skills using interactive digital news mapping media. The sample used in this study was 30 students taken using a purposive sampling technique. Data on news text writing skills were collected using a news text writing skills test instrument. Data on news text writing skills were analyzed using a paired sample t-test. The results of the study showed that the mean news text writing skills of class XII-AP students of SMK Pariwisata Imelda Medan before using interactive digital news mapping media was 10.73 (53.67). The mean news text writing skills of class XII-AP students of SMK Pariwisata Imelda Medan after using interactive digital news mapping media was 15.73 (78.67). The paired sample t value was -8.403 at sig. 0.00. Thus, sig. 0.000 <0.05 so that Ho was rejected and Hi was accepted, meaning that there was a significant influence of the use of interactive digital news mapping media on the news text writing skills of class XII-AP students of SMK Pariwisata Imelda Medan in the 2025/2026 academic year.

Discourse in Linda's Voice Recording on the News of the Tragedy of Vina Cirebon's Murder and Death

This study aims to describe the forms of discourse in Linda’s voice recordings related to the news of the Vina Cirebon murder and death tragedy, the factors influencing the use of discourse, the forms of forensic language employed, and their relevance to Indonesian language learning. The research was conducted in 2025 using Linda’s voice recordings obtained from YouTube as the research object. The population consisted of all utterances contained in the recordings, while the sample included utterances containing elements of forensic discourse. The researcher served as the primary research instrument, supported by data transcripts. Data were analyzed using forensic discourse analysis based on Coulthard and Johnson’s framework, focusing on word choice, utterance structure, linguistic patterns, and the speaker’s social and emotional context. The findings reveal that the discourse in Linda’s voice recordings consists of narrative discourse, denial, self-defense, and emotional expressions. The use of discourse is influenced by emotional conditions, speech situations, personal experiences, and the speaker’s social context. The identified forms of forensic language include word repetition, vowel prolongation, pauses, paralinguistic elements, and disfluencies that reflect the speaker’s emotional state. Furthermore, the findings demonstrate their relevance to Indonesian language learning, particularly in listening, reading and viewing, and speaking activities through the use of audiovisual texts as contextual and authentic learning materials.

The Influence of Using Gadgets as Learning Media on Writing Skills for Observation Report Texts

This study aims to examine the difference in the skills of writing observation report texts between those who donot use gadgets as learning tools and those who use gadgets as a learning medium, as well as to determine the effect of using as a learning medium. The research was conducted at SMAN 1 Mojo during the 2025/2026 learning period. The population consists of 391 students of SMAN 1 Mojo in grade X. A randomization process was carried out to determine the sample that would represent each of the two classes. A control group of 36 students from class X-1 and 35 students from X-7 were obtained as the experimental group. The Pretest-posttest group design is used as a research design. Two writing tests are conducted, including before and after treatment, as a process of data collection. Then the data is processed to test for normality and homogeneity as well as the t-test. The findings revealed a disparity in writing skill achievements between those not using gadgets and those using gadgets. The group not using gadgets scored 65,69 and 71,81 respectively, while the group using gadgets scored 66,00 dan 81,14. The results of hypothesis testing indicate that the use of gadgets has a positive effect on the students writing skills who utilize gadget media in the process of learning to compile observation report results. The finding is proven by result of 4,441 exceeding the t distribution in the table of 1,995 with a 5% significance level.

The Influence of Seni Kriya Rotan Media with Project Based Learning Model on Improving Procedural Text Writing Skills

Improving procedural text writing skills in elementary school students is an important aspect in Indonesian language learning because it is related to the ability to organize steps in a coherent, logical, and systematic manner. The activity was carried out in one of the elementary schools in the local district in the odd semester of the 2025/2026 academic year. The population in this activity was all fourth-grade students, with a sample of 30 students selected using a purposive sampling technique. The instruments used included a procedural text writing skills test, an observation sheet to determine student activities during learning, and documentation as supporting data. Data analysis was carried out using quantitative descriptive techniques by comparing the results before and after the application of the treatment to determine whether there was an increase in student abilities. The results obtained showed that there was an increase in procedural text writing skills after the implementation of appropriate learning media. This was seen from the increase in the average student grades from the initially sufficient category to the good category. In addition, student learning activities also experienced an increase as indicated by active participation in learning, the ability to organize steps systematically, and the accuracy of language use. These findings indicate that the use of appropriate learning media can have a positive impact on students’ writing skills and create a more active, effective, and meaningful learning atmosphere. Therefore, the use of learning media can be used as an alternative strategy to improve the quality of learning in elementary schools.

Versification and Figurative Language of Qasidah Baiyyah in Diwan 'Abbas bin Al-Ahnaf

This study aims to analyze and describe the versification of rhythm, rhyme, and figurative language of qasidah baiyyah in the diwan of Abbas bin Al-Ahnaf. The method used in this study is qualitative descriptive. With the purpose sampling technique, this study chose one sha’ir title as a research sample that was selected based on the prominent rhyme and rhythm variations and the diversity of language styles found. This research represents the depth of aesthetics and meaning, through the arudh qowafi approach that analyzes the versification of rhyme rhythm. As well as through a stylistic approach that analyzes and describes the style of figurative language used. The results of the analysis show that this qasidah contains rhythmic versification characterized by the bahr mutaqorib pattern. There are variations that appear in the form of zihaf qabdh and ‘illat hadzf in his hashwu and dhorob, indicating musical balance. Then the versification of the rhyme (qowafi), marked by the form of qafiyah muthallaqah mardufah maushulah bil-mad with the letter ba’ as rawi’ muthlaq which is the foundation of the sound at the end of each stanza, the asthma qafiyah has a mutawatir pattern representing a stable rhythmic order even though there is a ‘uyub qafiyah with the type of sinad hadzwu. As for the figurative language side, there is a rhetorical and figurative style that concretizes the experience of love, as well as strengthens the poet’s self-image.

Psychoanalysis of Characters in the Novel Assalamualaikum Baitullah by Asma Nadia: Study of Literary Psychology

This study aims to describe the personality structure of the characters in Asma Nadia’s novel Assalamualaikum Baitullah based on Sigmund Freud’s psychoanalytic theory, which includes the id, ego, and superego. This novel was chosen because it presents the complex psychological dynamics of the characters through life conflicts, trauma, loss, and the process of searching for the meaning of life and spirituality. The study uses a literary psychology approach with a qualitative descriptive method. The data source is Asma Nadia’s novel Assalamualaikum Baitullah, while the research data consist of words, phrases, sentences, dialogues, and character actions that reflect aspects of the id, ego, and superego. Data collection techniques were carried out through reading and note-taking, while data analysis was carried out through the stages of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that 80 data were found, consisting of 12 data aspects of the id, 40 data aspects of the ego, and 28 data aspects of the superego. The id aspects include instincts, death instincts, and anxiety instincts. The ego aspect includes repression, sublimation, projection, displacement, rationalization, regression, aggression, apathy, and fantasy and stereotypes. The superego aspect includes guilt, suppressed guilt, self-punishment, shame, sadness, hatred, and love. Research findings indicate that the ego aspect is the most dominant personality structure, so that characters in the novel tend to face conflict through considerations of reality and defense mechanisms.

This study was conducted with the following objectives: to describe the implementation of the make a match cooperative learning method in teaching students in the 10th grade at Posigadan State High School to analyze the structural elements of poetry; to describe the results of implementing the make a match cooperative learning method in teaching students in the 10th grade at Posigadan State High School to analyze the structural elements of poetry; describe the obstacles in learning to analyze the structural elements of poetry after using the make a match cooperative learning method in the 10th grade at Posigadan State High School, and describe solutions to overcome the obstacles in learning to analyze the structural elements of poetry after using the make a match cooperative learning method in the 10th grade at Posigadan State High School. This study employed the Make a Match cooperative learning method. The research method used was qualitative. This study utilized a descriptive qualitative approach, specifically to describe the implementation of the Make a Match learning method in the 10th-grade class at Posigadan State High School. The data collection techniques employed included observation, interviews, documentation, and achievement tests. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of the Make a Match cooperative learning method successfully helped students understand the material on analyzing the elements of poetry. The average score obtained by the 10th-grade students at Posigadan State High School was 80, falling into the “good” category. At the same time, the implementation of the Make a Match cooperative learning method was successful because it created an active and enjoyable learning environment for both students and teachers.

Visual and Verbal Satire Style in Sebastian Tedy's YouTube Channel: A Multimodal Pragmastylistics Study

This study aims to examine the visual and verbal satirical language styles employed in Sebastian Tedy’s YouTube channel through a multimodal pragmastylistic analysis. The study focuses on the types of satirical language styles, multimodal forms, illocutionary speech acts, and language functions manifested in video blog utterances. This research applies a qualitative descriptive method, with data consisting of verbal utterances and visual elements containing satire. The finding demonstrate that the identified types of satire include irony, cynicism, sarcasm, satire, and innuendo, with cynicism emerging as the dominant type. The satirical expressions are realized through verbal monomodal, verbal-visual multimodal, and visual-verbal multimodal forms, with verbal elements predominantly functioning as the primary means of meaning construction. In terms of illocutionary speech acts, satire is primarily expressed through representative acts, followed by expressive, directive, commissive, and declarative acts. Furthermore, the language functions, identified encompass communicative, social, and ideological functions, which interact in constructing criticism toward consumerism, digital trends, lifestyles, and various social practices within society. The findings indicate that satire in digital media functions not merely as entertainment, but also as a linguistic strategy for implicitly conveying criticism through the integration of verbal and visual elements.

Freud's Psychoanalytic Personality Structure in the Film Perayaan Mati Rasa and Its Implications as Teaching Material for Junior High School

This study aims to describe the personality structure of characters in Umay Shahab’s film Perayaan Mati Rasa based on Sigmund Freud’s psychoanalysis and its implications as literature teaching materials in junior high school. Data were collected through library-based research, with the film serving as the primary data source. The study employed a qualitative descriptive method and a literary psychology approach. The data consisted of dialogues, actions, expressions, and sequences of scenes that demonstrate the operation of the id, ego, and superego in Ian and Uta. Data were collected through repeated viewing, note-taking, and scene-time documentation. The data were analyzed by identifying conflict contexts, classifying evidence into the id, ego, and superego, interpreting the relationships among the three structures, and linking the findings to Phase D literature learning needs. The findings show that the id dominates the early to middle parts of the story through anger, the need for recognition, and resistance to painful situations; the ego works through reality consideration, problem solving, and decision making; while the superego becomes stronger through responsibility, honesty, guilt, and moral integrity. The novelty lies in analyzing all three structures as equally important and dynamically interacting categories rather than focusing only on the dominance of the id, and in translating the findings into scene- and dialogue-based teaching materials that develop students’ viewing, argumentation, empathy, and reflection skills.

The Inner Conflict of the Characters in the Novel Sisi Tergelap Surga and the Pedagogical Implications in Digital Modules in High School

This study examines the inner conflicts of characters in Brian Khrisna's novel Sisi Tergelap Surga through Kurt Lewin's field theory and formulates their pedagogical implications for a digital module on character and characterization for Grade 12 students in Phase F. The study employed a qualitative descriptive method and a literary psychology approach. The novel served as the primary data source, while six characters with substantial psychological struggles were purposively selected: Juleha, Ujang, Danang, Resti, Sutikno, and Gofar. Data were collected through close reading and systematic note-taking of dialogue, narrated thoughts, actions, other characters' responses, and shifts in decision-making. The analysis mapped internal and external factors, objects of conflict, positive and negative valences, conflict types, and directions of resolution. The findings show that Juleha, Ujang, Resti, Sutikno, and Gofar experience approach—avoidance conflict, whereas Danang experiences avoidance—avoidance conflict. The different conflict centers indicate that personal needs, stigma, poverty, social acceptance, and self-interpretation create distinct valence configurations. These findings were integrated into a digital module through a sequence of activities that included recognizing the novel’s context, substantiating characterization with textual evidence, analyzing conflict and valence, and presenting interpretations through character-map infographics and critical responses. The study provides a framework for using literary psychology to deepen evidence-based character learning while remaining attentive to social context, empathy, and moral evaluation.

The Influence of the SAVI Learning Model on the Poetry Reading Skills of Class X Students of SMAN 1 Grogol Kediri

This study aims to: 1) describe the posttest results of poetry reading skills of class X students of SMAN 1 Grogol Kediri without the SAVI learning model; 2) describe the posttest results of poetry reading skills of class X students of SMAN 1 Grogol Kediri with the SAVI learning model; 3) whether or not the SAVI learning model has an effect on poetry reading skills of class X students of SMAN 1 Grogol Kediri. This study uses a quantitative descriptive method through a quasi-experimental design with a pretest posttest control group design. This study took place at SMAN 1 Grogol Kediri in the 2025/2026 academic year. The population of this study was 36 class X-1 students and 36 class X-4 students who took the poetry reading skills pretest, who took the poetry reading skills learning, and who took the poetry reading skills posttest. The sample was determined at 62 students with the same number per class; drawn by simple random sampling without replacement. Data on poetry reading skills were collected using a poetry reading performance test instrument. Poetry reading skill data were analyzed using descriptive statistics to determine poetry reading skills and inferential statistics, namely the independent sample t test to calculate the effect of the SAVI model on poetry reading skill learning outcomes. The data analysis technique used the SPSS version 27 application with a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.001 <0.05. The results of the study: 1) the posttest results of poetry reading skills of class X students of SMAN 1 Grogol Kediri without the SAVI learning model were in the low category; 2) the posttest results of poetry reading skills of class X students of SMAN 1 Grogol Kediri with the SAVI learning model were in the high category; 3) the SAVI learning model on poetry reading skills of class X students of SMAN 1 Grogol Kediri because the t value had a sig. 0.00 <0.05.

Memory and the Power of Remembrance of the Character Ali in the Novel Seporsi Mie Ayam Sebelum Mati by Brian Khrisna

This study aims to describe the memories and recall of the character Ale in the novel Seporsi Mie Ayam Sebelum Mati by Brian Khrisna using a literary psychology approach based on Ludwig Klages’s personality theory. The study was conducted in 2026, with the research subject being the novel Seporsi Mie Ayam Sebelum by Brian Khrisna, published by Grasindo in 2025. This study employs a qualitative descriptive method with data collection techniques consisting of reading and note-taking. The research data consists of quotations of sentences, dialogues, and narratives related to the aspects of memory and the ability to recall of the character Ale. The research instrument consists of data cards, while the data analysis technique was carried out through the stages of classification, description, and interpretation based on Ludwig Klages’ theory. The results of the study indicate that the character Ale’s memory encompasses the ability to recall past experiences, remember behavioral habits, harbor expectations regarding future impressions, revisit erroneous impressions resulting from traumatic experiences, and engage in fantasy as a form of psychological escape. Meanwhile, the character Ale’s memory capacity is divided into two forms: the capacity to recall experiences or events, and the capacity to recall objects that evoke the character’s emotional experiences. This study demonstrates that past experiences stored in memory have a significant influence on the development of the psychological state and personality of the character Ale in the novel.

Application of Flash Card Media in Learning to Identify Intrinsic Elements of Fantasy Story Text

The problems in this study are (1) how the implementation of flash card media in the learning process of identifying the intrinsic elements of fantasy stories for class VII A students at SMP Negeri 1 Paguyaman Pantai, (2) how student learning outcomes through the application of flash card media in identifying the intrinsic elements of fantasy stories for class VII A students at SMP Negeri 1 Paguyaman Pantai, and (3) what factors influence the application of flash card media in learning to identify the intrinsic elements of fantasy stories for class VII A students at SMP Negeri 1 Paguyaman Pantai. The objectives of this study are (1) to describe the implementation of flash card media in the learning process of identifying the intrinsic elements of fantasy stories for class VII A students at SMP Negeri 1 Paguyaman Pantai, (2) to describe student learning outcomes toward the application of flash card media in learning to identify the intrinsic elements of fantasy stories for class VII A students at SMP Negeri 1 Paguyaman Pantai, and (3) to describe the factors influencing the application of flash card media in learning to identify the intrinsic elements of fantasy stories for class VII A students at SMP Negeri 1 Paguyaman Pantai. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative. The research data are flash card media. The data sources are the learning activities carried out by teachers and students. Data collection techniques used are observation, interviews, and documentation. Based on the results of the test on identifying the intrinsic elements of fantasy stories conducted on 16 students divided into 3 groups, the average score obtained by students was 93 based on the suitability in identifying the elements of fantasy stories. The conclusion of this study is that the ability to identify the intrinsic elements of fantasy stories of class VII A students at SMP Negeri 1 Paguyaman Pantai meets the assessment standards set by the school.

Representation of Traditional Wisdom of Madurese Society in the Poetry Collection Rokat Perahu Mawar by Shohifur Ridho Ilahi: A Literary Anthropology Perspective

This study aims to describe the representation of traditional wisdom embedded in the poetry collection Rokat Perahu Mawar by Shohifur Ridho Ilahi from the perspective of literary anthropology. Employing a qualitative descriptive method, this research examines words, lines, and stanzas that reflect the cultural values and traditional knowledge of the Madurese people. Data were collected through documentation techniques involving intensive reading, note-taking, and classification of textual data related to traditional wisdom. The analysis was conducted using content analysis and interpretative approaches grounded in literary anthropology, particularly focusing on the cultural roots and inherited traditions reflected in the poems. The findings reveal fifteen forms of traditional wisdom represented in eleven poems. These include kinship-based work ethics, the maritime tradition of amajâng (sailing), the sea as a source of life, grave pilgrimage traditions, respect for ancestors through bhuju’ (sacred tombs), the moral centrality of bhâbhu (mother), the symbolism of the celurit, salt production culture, rokat bhumè rituals, pèlèt betteng pregnancy ceremonies, coastal environmental preservation, beach-based social and cultural spaces, paparèghân traditional oral poetry, the symbolism of the perahu ba’, and the long-standing tradition of migration. These representations convey philosophical values concerning spirituality, social solidarity, environmental ethics, cultural identity, and the relationship between humans, nature, and the divine. This study concludes that Rokat Perahu Mawar functions not only as a literary work but also as a cultural archive that preserves and transmits Madurese traditional wisdom to contemporary society. Through poetic language, Shohifur Ridho Ilahi successfully transforms collective cultural memory into a literary medium that sustains local identity amid social and cultural change

The Effectiveness of Hotel Restaurant Glossary Cards in Enhancing Young Learners’ Vocabulary Mastery

The study is aimed at examining the effectiveness of the hotel restaurant glossary cards in enhancing young learners' mastery of vocabulary in early childhood education. The study was carried out using pre-experimental with one group pre-test and post-test design. The subjects in this research were 20 students of kindergarten in TK Fatimah 7 Palembang. Data was collected from pre and post-test of vocabulary. The pre-test scores showed that students' vocabulary knowledge was limited with the average score of 3.5/10. The results of the post test showed that the average score was 5.9/10 there was a gain after the intervention. Pupils' word recognition and understanding is clearly enhanced. Furthermore, based on the observation results in the classroom, students' interest and their involvement in learning activity were found increasing by using the glossary cards. Results showed that the hotel restaurant glossary card is effective and interesting learning mediums used in the process of learning the vocabulary for young learners. The results of this study indicate that the use of learning materials with visual support and contextual in early childhood language learning is important.

Postcolonial Representation in the Novel Janji Tanah Jawa by Agil Sri Rahayu

Postcolonial representation in the novel Janji di Tanah Jawa by Agil Sri Rahayu depicts traces of colonialism through identity, culture, and power relations in people's lives. This study aims to describe the forms of postcolonial representation contained in the novel Janji di Tanah Jawa by Agil Sri Rahayu. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method with a postcolonial study approach. Through this method and approach, the research data is described from a colonial perspective in the novel Janji di Tanah Jawa, resistance to colonial power, and the representation of cultural identity and characters in the colonial structure. The research data in the form of quotations in the novel were collected using a non-test instrument, namely observation guidelines based on time triangulation. Postcolonial representation in the novel Janji di Tanah Jawa by Agil Sri Rahayu was analyzed thematically using a content analysis technique approach based on time triangulation through a check-check guide sheet both for the data collection process and in the data analysis process of postcolonial representation in the novel Janji di Tanah Jawa by Agil Sri Rahayu. The analysis of postcolonial representation in Agil Sri Rahayu's novel Janji di Tanah Jawa (Promise in the Land of Java) demonstrates postcolonial aspects through the dominance of power, cultural hybridity, the search for identity, and the characters' resistance to colonial legacies. These findings demonstrate that the novel not only depicts historical events but also reflects the impact of colonialism on the social and cultural life of Indonesian society.

Critical Literacy in Indonesian Language Learning in Higher Education

This study aims to describe students' critical literacy skills in Indonesian language learning at university. The study was conducted at Indraprasta PGRI University, Jakarta, in the even semester of the 2025/2026 academic year. The study population consisted of 120 students taking Indonesian language courses, while the sample consisted of 35 students selected using a purposive sampling technique. The study employed a descriptive quantitative approach. The research instrument was a critical literacy questionnaire covering indicators of text analysis, argumentation evaluation, social interpretation, critical reflection, and opinion formation. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics in the form of percentages to determine the level of students' critical literacy skills. The results showed that students' critical literacy skills were in the good category with an average percentage of 81.8%. The social interpretation indicator achieved the highest percentage at 85%, while the argumentation evaluation indicator achieved the lowest percentage at 78%. Furthermore, learning activities based on critical discussion, text analysis, and learning reflection showed a relationship with the development of students' critical literacy skills. The results of this study indicate that Indonesian language learning at university plays a crucial role in developing students' critical thinking skills in the digital era.

High School Students’ Interpretations of Bullying Themes in Gareth Emery’s Saving Light Music Video: A Reader Response Study

This study aims to investigate how high school EFL students interpret bullying representation and construct reflective and future-oriented expectations through Gareth Emery’s Saving Light music video as a multimodal text by integrating Reader-Response Theory and Hope Theory. The study was conducted at MAN 1 Kota Pekalongan during the 2025/2026 academic year. The participants consisted of 32 eleventh-grade students, with 8 selected participants involved in semi-structured interviews. The instruments used were open-ended questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis based on Braun and Clarke’s framework. The findings reveal that students interpreted bullying as emotional and social violence represented through symbolic visual narration. The music video encouraged empathy, personal reflection, and critical responses shaped by students’ prior experiences. Furthermore, students expressed future-oriented expectations regarding counseling support, teacher involvement, anti-bullying education, and safer classroom environments. These findings suggest that multimodal media texts may support reflective learning, critical media literacy, and student-centered meaning construction in EFL classrooms.

This study aims to describe the various types of declarative utterances and the meanings contained in them in the Friends of Merry Riana podcast episode entitled Rejecting Corporate Slavery: Generation Z’s Choice Amid the Ethical Crisis. This study employs a pragmatic approach based on the speech act theory proposed by John L. Austin and John Searle. The theory explains that every utterance can be analyzed through three aspects, namely locutionary, illocutionary, and perlocutionary acts. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative, as it seeks to understand and describe linguistic phenomena in depth based on their contexts of use. Data were collected through documentation, observation, and note-taking techniques on the utterances found in the podcast. Furthermore, the data were analyzed through several stages, including data transcription, identification of declarative utterances, classification based on their types, interpretation of meanings, description of findings, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study reveal six dominant types of declarative utterances, namely permitting, restricting, dismissing, sentencing, surrendering, and classifying. Each type of utterance carries different illocutionary meanings depending on its purpose and context of use. Overall, declarative utterances in the podcast function as instruments of authority that affirm decisions, establish limitations, alter certain social statuses, and construct professional as well as personal realities, particularly in portraying the experiences and perspectives of Generation Z amid the ongoing ethical crisis.

Women's Screams in the Novels Woman at Point Zero and Gadis Pantai: An Existentialist Feminist Perspective

This study examines women's cries in the novels Woman at Point Zero by Nawal El Saadawi and Gadis Pantai by Pramoedya Ananta Toer using the existentialist feminist perspective of Simone de Beauvoir. This approach was chosen because it can dissect women's experiences not as mere biological fate, but as social constructs that can be resisted through existential awareness and action. This study uses a qualitative literature review with data sources in the form of the 2003 translation of Woman at Point Zero (177 pages) and the 1987 edition of Gadis Pantai (121 pages). The primary research instrument is the researcher herself, who acts as recorder, critical reader, and interpreter of the texts. This study uses note-taking techniques in data collection. Data analysis is conducted through thorough reading, data classification, description, interpretation, and drawing conclusions. The results show that women's cries in both novels are not merely physical cries or emotional expressions, but rather a planned existential resistance against the hegemonic patriarchal system. The meaning of the scream goes beyond individual suffering, as it serves as a sharp social critique of patriarchal structures that continue to place women in subordinate, objectified, and othered positions. The scream also depicts women's persistent efforts to reclaim agency, autonomy, and recognition of their existence as self-determining subjects, in accordance with the demands of the ethics of freedom in existentialist feminism.

Analysis of the Main Character's Inner Conflict in the Novel Namaku Alam by Leila S. Chudori: A Study of Literary Psychology

Inner conflict is one of the psychological elements that plays an essential role in shaping character development in literary works. Leila S. Chudori’s novel Namaku Alam portrays the psychological dynamics of the protagonist through traumatic experiences, family relationships, and social pressures. This study aims to describe the forms of inner conflict, the factors causing the conflict, and the psychological condition of the main character, Alam. The research employed a literary psychology approach based on Albertine Minderop’s theory using a descriptive qualitative method. The data source was the novel Namaku Alam by Leila S. Chudori, while the research data consisted of textual quotations reflecting inner conflict, causal factors, and the character’s psychological condition. Data were collected through library research, intensive reading, and note-taking techniques, and analyzed using an interactive model involving data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that Alam experiences various forms of inner conflict, including guilt, anger, anxiety, sadness, emotional distress, and self-acceptance. These conflicts are influenced by interconnected factors, namely family, social environment, identity, and traumatic experiences. Alam’s psychological condition develops from prolonged emotional distress toward gradual self-reconciliation, characterized by increasing emotional tranquility and self-acceptance. This study demonstrates that the literary psychology approach effectively reveals the psychological dynamics of literary characters and contributes to the development of contemporary Indonesian literary studies.

Kuwaiti Social Reality in the Drama Series As-Safqah: A Literature Sociological Analysis of Alan Swingewood's

This study aims to analyze the representation of Kuwaiti social reality in the drama series As-Safqah (The Exchange) based on Alan Swingewood’s sociological perspective on literature. This study employs a qualitative descriptive method using the “listen and take notes” technique to collect data in the form of dialogues that represent the social conditions of Kuwaiti society in the late 1980s. The data were analyzed through the stages of data condensation, data presentation, and the drawing and verification of conclusions. The results of the study indicate that the series As-Safqah represents three main aspects of the social reality of Kuwaiti society. First, social structure, which includes gender inequality, restrictions on women’s autonomy, and the influence of global economic and geopolitical dynamics. Second, social stigma, which is reflected through the labeling and discrimination against divorced women and children from divorced families. Third, family relationships, which encompass the dynamics of post-divorce relationships, the division of parental responsibilities, changes in parenting patterns, and the psychosocial impact of divorce on women and children. These findings indicate that the series As-Safqah not only represents the social reality of Kuwaiti society but also serves as a social critique of patriarchal culture and gender inequality during Kuwait’s modernization.

Representation of Masculinity in Fadel Chaker’s Songs: A Barthesian Semiotic Analysis

This study encompasses several areas of inquiry, one of which is Roland Barthes’ semiotic analysis. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the denotative, connotative, and mythical meanings in representing subordinated masculinity and complicit masculinity in the song lyrics of Law Ala Qolbi and Ya Hayatirruh by Fadel Chaker based on Roland Barthes’ semiotic theory and Raewyn Connell’s perspective on masculinity. The study was conducted using the lyrics of the two songs as the research object, with data collection and analysis. The research data consisted of words, phrases, clauses, and expressions in the lyrics that represent masculinity, while the units of analysis were purposively selected according to the research focus. The researcher served as the primary research instrument, supported by a data classification sheet. Data were analyzed using a descriptive-interpretative method through Roland Barthes’ three levels of signification: denotation, connotation, and myth, with reference to Raewyn Connell’s masculinity theory. The findings reveal that the two songs represent two forms of masculinity, namely subordinated masculinity and complicit masculinity. At the denotative level, masculinity is represented through expressions of love, longing, loyalty, sacrifice, and commitment to one’s partner. At the connotative level, these representations portray men who are willing to express their emotions, build emotional intimacy, and demonstrate responsibility in relationships. At the mythical level, the songs construct the view that masculinity is not solely defined by dominance and emotional restraint, but also by sincerity, commitment, willingness to sacrifice, and the ability to express affection. The findings indicate that the representation of masculinity in the two songs constructs a more humanistic, expressive, and relational form of masculinity compared to hegemonic masculinity.

Penelitian tentang uslub insya’ thalabi pada film The Kingdom of Solomon karya Shahriar Bahrani merupakan salah satu kajian balaghah, khususnya ilmu ma‘ani, yang mengkaji hubungan antara bentuk tuturan, makna, dan konteks penggunaannya. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan bentuk-bentuk uslub insya’ thalabi serta menganalisis makna (dalalah) dan konteks penggunaannya (maqam) dalam dialog berbahasa Arab pada film tersebut berdasarkan perspektif ilmu ma‘ani. Penelitian menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan sumber data berupa dialog berbahasa Arab dalam film The Kingdom of Solomon berdurasi sekitar 2 jam 23 menit yang disutradarai oleh Shahriar Bahrani. Sampel penelitian berupa dialog yang mengandung uslub insya’ thalabi dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Instrumen penelitian adalah peneliti sebagai human instrument yang didukung pedoman klasifikasi dan lembar pencatatan data. Analisis data dilakukan melalui reduksi data, penyajian data, klasifikasi berdasarkan teori balaghah, interpretasi makna menurut perspektif ilmu ma‘ani, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ditemukan 50 data uslub insya’ thalabi, yang terdiri atas 28 uslub amr, 11 uslub nahy, 6 uslub nida’, dan 5 uslub istifham, sedangkan uslub tamanni tidak ditemukan. Keempat bentuk tersebut tidak hanya merepresentasikan makna gramatikal, tetapi juga mengandung makna retoris sesuai konteks tuturan, seperti doa, nasihat, ancaman, dan permohonan pada uslub amr, larangan, peringatan, irsyad, dan iltimas pada uslub nahy, penghormatan, pengagungan, dan permohonan pada uslub nida’, serta taqrir, inkar, taubikh, dan ta‘ajjub pada uslub istifham. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa uslub insya’ thalabi memiliki fungsi komunikatif dan retoris yang beragam sehingga memperkaya kajian balaghah, khususnya ilmu ma‘ani.

This study aims to describe the forms of environmental degradation depicted in the novel Teruslah Bodoh Jangan Pintar by Tere Liye based on Greg Garrard’s ecocritical perspective. The research was conducted during 2025–2026, with the novel Teruslah Bodoh Jangan Pintar, published by Sabak Grip Nusantara in 2024, serving as the object of study. The population consisted of all narrative elements within the novel, while the sample comprised excerpts representing environmental degradation. The primary research instrument was the researcher, supported by data cards for recording and organizing the findings. Data were collected through reading and note-taking techniques. The data were analyzed using a descriptive qualitative method, involving data collection, data classification, data categorization, data interpretation, and conclusion drawing based on Greg Garrard’s ecocritical theory. The results reveal that environmental degradation in the novel is represented through four major forms: environmental pollution, deforestation and land degradation caused by mining activities, wildlife habitat destruction, and ecological disasters, including clean water crises, floods, and landslides. These findings indicate that Teruslah Bodoh Jangan Pintar contains ecological criticism of the exploitation of natural resources carried out without regard for environmental sustainability and ecosystem balance.

This study aims to analyze the forms and causes of the protagonists’ internal conflicts in the novels The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini and Seporsi Mie Ayam Sebelum Mati by Brian Khrisna, utilizing Kurt Lewin’s approach-avoidance conflict theory. These two novels were selected because they both explore themes of trauma, guilt, and despair experienced by their protagonists despite originating from different socio-cultural contexts thereby enabling a cross-cultural comparison of psychological conflict patterns. The study employs a literary psychology approach, utilizing a qualitative descriptive method and a literature review (textual analysis) for data collection. The data consist of narrative excerpts and dialogue from both novels that indicate the protagonists’ psychological conflicts; these data were subsequently analyzed using content analysis techniques. The findings reveal that the character Amir in The Kite Runner experiences an approach-avoidance conflict, characterized by a struggle between the desire to atone for past mistakes and the fear of confronting trauma and guilt. Meanwhile, Ale in Seporsi Mie Ayam Sebelum Mati experiences an avoidance-avoidance conflict, characterized by a choice between enduring life’s suffering and putting an end to his despair. These differing forms of conflict demonstrate that the characters’ psychological pressures are influenced by the specific socio-cultural contexts of each story. This research is expected to enrich the study of cross-cultural literary psychology, particularly regarding the understanding of the variations in internal conflicts experienced by fictional characters.

Teacher’s Challenges in Teaching English Vocabulary Using Flashcards for Students with Intellectual Disabilities: A Case Study

This study aims to find out the challenges faced by a teacher in using flashcards to teach English vocabulary to students with intellectual disabilities. This study was conducted at a special junior high school (SLB) in North Sumatra, focusing on one eighth-grade classroom consisting of 11 students with intellectual disability levels ranging from mild to severe. The participant of this study was one teacher, selected through purposive sampling, with the criteria of having taught English to students with intellectual disabilities for more than three years and having used flashcards in vocabulary teaching. Data were collected through three instruments, namely non-participant observation using an observation checklist, semi-structured interviews, and teacher artifacts such as lesson plans, flashcards, and student worksheets. The collected data were analyzed using thematic analysis based on the six phases developed by Braun and Clarke. The results show that the teacher faced four main challenges, namely (1) maintaining students' attention, which was often affected by their emotional condition before the lesson, (2) managing classroom order, since the teacher had to respond to different student behaviors at the same time, (3) balancing repetition, limited time, and student boredom, and (4) delivering instructions that were simple and easy for students to understand.

Hate Speech in the Comments Section of the Hilirisasi Video Series on the @GibranTV YouTube Channel: A Forensic Linguistic Study

This study aims to describe hate speech in the comments section of the YouTube series "Hilirisasi" on the @GibranTV channel through a forensic linguistic study using a pragmatics scalpel. The focus of the study includes the forms of hate speech, types of illocutionary speech acts, violations of politeness maxims, and forensic linguistic categories that appear in netizens' comments. The method used is descriptive qualitative, with data in the form of netizens' comments containing indications of hate speech in the video's comment section. Hate speech data were collected using observation guidelines based on time triangulation. The research data were analyzed thematically. The results show that hate speech in the comment section is manifested in the form of insults, accusations, negative labeling, invitations, and provocation. The speech is dominated by expressive, assertive, and directive speech acts, and contains violations of the maxims of praise, sympathy, wisdom, agreement, generosity, and simplicity. From a forensic linguistic perspective, the speech found can be categorized as insults, provocation, incitement, defamation, and indications of the dissemination of unverified information. These findings suggest that digital comments not only serve as a means of expressing opinions, but also have the potential to become a form of verbal aggression.

This study aims to describe (1) the form of Gorontalo language in news texts, (2) elements of Gorontalo culture in news texts, and (3) the representation of language and culture in the texts. The method used is a qualitative approach to describe the data obtained. The data were news texts containing information about Gorontalo language and culture on the gorontalo.antaranwes.com website. Data collection techniques used documentation, reading techniques, and note-taking techniques. The data analysis techniques used in this study were data reduction, data presentation, and summarizing the data obtained. Research findings indicate that the representation of Gorontalo language and culture in news texts from the National News Agency (LKBN) ANTARA Gorontalo Bureau in 2024 played an active role in representing Gorontalo language and culture through the use of language, local terms, and news narratives rich in cultural meaning. (1) The Gorontalo language in news texts is predominantly reflected in the form of 33 local vocabulary or terms, (2) Gorontalo cultural elements in news texts comprehensively encompass seven cultural elements represented as the collective identity of the Gorontalo people, (3) language and culture in news texts from the LKBN ANTARA Gorontalo Bureau serve as a means of producing regional cultural meaning. Based on these research findings, the news texts from the ANTARA Gorontalo Bureau relevantly represent Gorontalo language and culture through written terms, culture, and diction, which play a significant role in disseminating Gorontalo language and culture as a regional identity.

The study aims to describe the culture of bride kidnapping viewed from the aspects of gender inequality and patriarchy. The method used in this study is descriptive analytical, with data collection techniques through reading and note-taking of quotations in the novel. The results show that the culture of bride kidnapping causes various forms of gender injustice, such as abduction, forced marriage, sexual violence, subordination, and psychological pressure against women. In addition, the culture also reflects a strong patriarchal system that places men as the dominant party in social and traditional life. Based on Kate Millett’s radical feminist theory, bride kidnapping culture is a form of patriarchal domination that limits women’s freedom and rights.

Portrait of Community Life in the Novel Laskar Pelangi and Anne of Green Gabl

This study aims to describe the depiction of community life through socio-economic and educational dimensions in two novels, namely Laskar Pelangi by Andrea Hirata and Anne of Green Gables by L. M. Montgomery, using the theoretical framework of Alan Swingewood's sociology of literature. The approach applied is descriptive qualitative. The main data sources come from the first edition of the novel Laskar Pelangi published in 2005 and the first edition of the novel Anne of Green Gables published in 1908. The research data includes fragments of words, phrases, sentences, and dialogues that represent community life, including aspects of education, economy, social, culture, and the relationship patterns between characters in both works. Data collection was carried out through literature studies, while data analysis went through a series of stages, namely in-depth reading, data verification according to the research focus, application of Alan Swingewood's sociology of literature theory, description of the analysis results, data interpretation, and conclusion. The results of the study reveal that the novel Laskar Pelangi represents the life of the Belitung community who are entangled in poverty, colored by social inequality, and face limited educational facilities and infrastructure. In contrast, the novel Anne of Green Gables depicts the simple yet relatively stable socio-economic life of the Avonlea community, with a much more conducive educational environment. The similarities between the two novels lie in the position of education as an instrument of social change and the formation of the characters' characters, while the differences are evident in the socio-economic conditions of each community, which directly influence their access to and the educational process they undergo. This research confirms that literary works can function as authentic reflections of the social realities of society in the eras that form their backgrounds.

Strategy for Compliance and Violation of Pangkalan Kerinci Community Speech Acts in Buying and Selling Transactions

The purpose of this study is to analyze and explain the strategies of compliance and violation of speech acts that occur in interactions between traders and buyers. This study was conducted in three main locations, namely Pasar Baru, Pasar BTN Lama, and Pasar Seminai in Pangkalan Kerinci in April 2026. The population in this study included all transactional speech activities in the market area, with a sample of 40 spoken speech datum selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data collection was carried out using listening, recording, and note-taking techniques to document the dialogue in its entirety without disturbing the naturalness of interactions in the field. The research instrument used was the researcher himself as the main instrument (human instrument), assisted by a voice recorder, field notes, and lingual data transcription guidelines. The data analysis tool used a pragmatic equivalent method by aligning the concept of Leech's Principles of Politeness and Brown and Levinson's Speech Strategy to see the relationship between the content of moral values and the way speech is delivered in the field. The results of the study indicate two main interaction patterns: a mutually supportive pattern (harmonious interaction) and a conflicting pattern (economic conflict of interest). In the supportive pattern, speakers adhere to politeness maxims aligned with positive or negative small talk strategies to maintain comfort and test customer loyalty. Conversely, in the conflicting pattern, speakers deliberately violate politeness maxims through strategies of being blunt (on record), vague (off record), or even silent strategies due to the motivation of economic gain or deadlocked price bargaining. This study concludes that the combination of politeness rules and speaking strategies in traditional markets functions as a dynamic social balancing tool to align economic transaction targets without damaging the kinship ties of market residents.

Gender-Based Discriminatory Speech via the Close the Door Podcast and Its Implications for Learning in Schools

This study uses a qualitative descriptive method. Data were collected using observation guidelines based on time triangulation. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data grouping, compiling and interpreting the results of data analysis, concluding the results of data analysis, and presenting the results, discussion and conclusions of the study. The results of the study: 1) linguistic aspects consist of diction (21 data) and language style (sarcasm and irony) (10 data); 2) conceptual aspects consist of gender stereotypes (19 data), marginalization (8 data), subordination (14 data), and objectification (12 data); 3) contextual aspects consist of situational, cultural, and media contexts; each containing 21 data; 4) concrete implications for learning practices in junior high schools, (1) strengthening critical thinking in Indonesian language subjects, (2) integration of the independent curriculum and the Pancasila student profile project (P5), (3) digital media literacy learning and (4) creating an inclusive and gender-responsive classroom ecosystem. Based on a theoretical and comprehensive analysis of the content of the Close the Door podcast edition of July 3, 2024, this research on gender-based discriminatory speech can be concluded through four main pillars: based on the three aspects that form it and the implications for learning in junior high schools.

This study aims to describe the internal conflicts of the main character in the novel Rara Mendut by Y.B. Mangunwijaya using Kurt Lewin's psychological approach to literature. The focus of this research includes approach-approach conflict, approach-avoidance conflict, and avoidance-avoidance conflict. The method used is descriptive qualitative. The research data consists of textual excerpts from the novel that indicate the main character's internal conflicts. Data collection techniques are carried out through reading and note-taking, while data analysis is conducted by classifying and describing the data based on Kurt Lewin's theory. The results of the study show that Rara Mendut experiences various internal conflicts due to the clash between love, power, freedom, and self-esteem. Approach-approach conflict is seen when the character is faced with two choices that are equally advantageous. Approach-avoidance conflict arises when the character desires something but also fears its consequences. This study aims to describe the image of the female main character, Vanya Callista, in the novel The Most Wanted, which represents both the engagement and conflict with Naomi Wolf’s feminist ideology. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative with a feminist literary criticism approach. The data source is the novel The Most Wanted, focusing the analysis on textual data reflecting the physical, psychological, and social images of the main character. The results show three main findings. First, physically, Vanya experiences visual commodification and is reduced to a “social accessory” due to the unilateral claim of the dominant male character (Most Wanted). Second, psychologically, the main character experiences psychological under-nourishment in the form of loss of privacy and social anxiety. Despite initially showing strong self-agency, the character’s critical consciousness eventually succumbs to the romanticization of possessive masculine behavior within popular literary narratives. Third, socially, the main character’s presence triggers female rivalry (horizontal conflict among women) which deflects criticism away from patriarchal culture and destroys sisterhood. This study concludes that the novel The Most Wanted reflects how the beauty myth and modern patriarchal structures operate to restrict women’s space and subjugate female agency through popular literature.

This research is motivated by the depiction of a strong inner conflict in the main character in Wulan Nur Amalia's novel Bandung After Rain. This inner conflict is interesting to study because it reflects the psychological dynamics of humans in facing various life pressures, both internal and social. This study uses a literary psychology approach based on Albertine Minderop's theory, which emphasizes the dynamics of human personality. The purpose of this research is to describe the forms of inner conflict experienced by the main character and to identify the factors that influence the emergence of this conflict in Wulan Nur Amalia's novel Bandung After Rain. The method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive method with content analysis techniques. The research data were obtained from quotations in the novel that describe the main character's inner conflict, then analyzed based on Albertine Minderop's literary psychology theory, specifically the concepts of the id, ego, and superego. The results show that the main character experiences various forms of inner conflict, such as conflict between desires and reality, guilt, anxiety, and emotional stress in facing life's problems and social relationships. This conflict is influenced by internal factors in the form of psychological struggles and external factors in the form of environmental pressures and traumatic experiences. Based on the analysis, the main character's inner conflict demonstrates the dominant imbalance between the id, ego, and superego within the character.

This study aims to describe the portrayal of poverty in the novel Seporsi Mie Ayam Sebelum Mati by Brian Khrisna based on Alan Swingewood’s sociology of literature perspective, namely reflection of the age, authorship production, and its relation to history. This study employed a qualitative descriptive method. The research data consisted of quotations from the novel that depict social poverty. Data were collected through reading and note-taking techniques, while data analysis was conducted by identifying, classifying, and describing the data based on the research focus. The results show that the novel portrays poverty through economic hardship, limited employment opportunities, crime, and social stigma. In terms of authorship production, the author presents stories derived from social experiences in the surrounding environment. Meanwhile, from the historical aspect, the novel represents the reality of poverty that still exists in society today. In conclusion, literary works can serve as a reflection of social life in society.

Female Representation in the Amazon Lily Arc of One Piece: A Beauvoirian Feminist Analysis

This study analyzes the representation of women in the Amazon Lily arc of One Piece (Episodes 408–421) using Simone de Beauvoir’s existentialist feminist framework, particularly the concept of women as “the Other.” The study employed a descriptive qualitative method with a textual and discourse-oriented approach. The data consisted of dialogues, character interactions, narrative structures, and visual elements from the selected episodes. Data were collected through close observation, scene documentation, and selective transcription, then analyzed using the qualitative analysis model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, including data reduction, data display, interpretation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that women’s representation operates through three interrelated dimensions: structural authority, relational identity, and symbolic subordination. At the structural level, women are portrayed as politically and militarily dominant within Kuja society. However, at the relational level, female subjectivity is shaped through emotional dependence and narrative alignment with Monkey D. Luffy. At the symbolic level, visual framing and emotional coding reinforce gendered expectations of femininity. The study concludes that female empowerment in the Amazon Lily arc is conditional rather than absolute because institutional authority coexists with relational and ideological limitations. These findings contribute to feminist media studies and critical media literacy by demonstrating how anime narratives simultaneously construct and destabilize gender-based power relations.

This study aims to describe the significance of nine song lyrics in Braga MGNDW’s album Kembara Jiwa through heuristic and hermeneutic readings and to formulate the central matrix that binds the album as a whole. The study was conducted in Gorontalo in 2026 using a qualitative descriptive approach. The corpus comprises Senandung Pembuka Jalan, Jalan Hidup, Nasib dan Takdir, Kembar Jiwa, Sedih Akan Pergi, Kelana, Subuh, Pulang yang Paling Pulang, and Rayakan. The researcher and data cards functioned as research instruments by recording lexical elements, indirect expressions, hypograms, variants, models, matrices, and significance. Data were collected through careful listening, transcription, documentation, and lyric verification with the band. The analysis proceeded through heuristic reading, hermeneutic reading, identification of actual and potential hypograms, and formulation of variants, models, and matrices. The heuristic findings show that the lyrics employ diction related to journeys, wounds, hope, longing, home, mother, light, and acceptance, supported by metaphor, personification, natural symbols, and semantic oppositions. Hermeneutically, the album constructs a progressive narrative of departure, self-formation, struggle with fate, relational harmony, transformation of suffering, perseverance, contemplation, homecoming, and acceptance of life. The individual matrices converge into a central matrix: the existential dimensions of human life. Kembara Jiwa therefore positions local song lyrics as poetic texts that represent the inner journey through which human beings understand, confront, and give meaning to their lives.

This study focuses on the existence of female characters as viewed through the lenses of “The Other,” Immanence, and Transcendence in the play Bunga Rumah Makan by Utuy Tatang Sontani, using Simone de Beauvoir’s framework of existential feminism. The method employed is analytical description. The data source is the play Bunga Rumah Makan by Utuy Tatang Sontani. The research data consists of dialogue excerpts that illustrate the existence of female characters in the play. Data collection was conducted through reading and note-taking. Data analysis was performed by: (1) Reading the data thoroughly to gain an initial understanding of the text; (2) Classifying the data into three analytical categories: manifestations of “The Other,” conditions of Immanence, and drives toward Transcendence. (3) Describing the classified data in detail and systematically; (4) Analyzing the data by referring to Simone de Beauvoir’s existential feminist theoretical framework; (5) Interpreting the analysis results to uncover the meanings embedded within the text; and (6) Drawing preliminary conclusions that are subsequently verified until a final, accountable conclusion is reached. The research findings indicate that the character Ani is constructed as The Other through patriarchal power relations; she experiences a condition of Immanence but gradually demonstrates a drive toward Transcendence. This study concludes that Sontani’s drama implicitly reflects the tension between women’s existential freedom and the pressures of the patriarchal social structure.

Interest in Learning Indonesian through Non-Formal Introduction in Grade VI Students at Anuban Jitjongrak School, Krabi, Thailand

This study aims to analyze the interest in learning Indonesian among sixth-grade students at AnubanJitjongrak School in Krabi, Thailand, where the language was introduced through non-formal instruction outside of regular class hours. The study was motivated by the fact that Indonesian is not taught as a formal subject at the school; consequently, language exposure occurred through daily interactions, language games, and simple conversations during community service and international internship activities. A qualitative descriptive approach using a case study method was employed. Data were collected via a three-point Likert scale questionnaire comprising ten questions administered to the sixth-grade students. The data were analyzed descriptively to characterize the students’ responses and their interest in learning Indonesian. The results indicate that the students demonstrated a positive interest in learning Indonesian, despite the language not being part of the formal curriculum. The majority of students showed interest, attentiveness, and active participation—such as paying attention to vocabulary introductions, asking about word meanings, and attempting to pronounce Indonesian words. Furthermore, learning through games and casual conversation helped boost the students’ intrinsic motivation and fostered a more comfortable learning atmosphere. It can be concluded that introducing Indonesian outside of formal class hours positively contributed to cultivating the sixth-grade students’ interest in learning the language, suggesting that a non-formal approach holds potential as an effective alternative strategy for introducing Indonesian to foreign learners at the primary school level.

This study aims to describe students’ responsses to the implementation of language learning based on songs and games at Eakkapapsasanawich Islamic School, Krabi, Thailand. The research was conducted at Eakkapapsasanawich Islamic School, Krabi, Thailand, during the International Teaching Assistance Program from November 10, 2025, to January 5, 2026. The population consisted of students participating in the language learning program, while the sample comprised 25 Mattayom 3 students selected through purposive sampling. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach. The primary research Instrumen was the researcher as the human Instrumen, supported by observation guidelines and field notes for data collection. Data were analyzed using the interactive analysis model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. The findings indicate that song–and game based language learning generated positive students responsses. These responsses were reflected in increased student engagement during learning activities, active participation in instruction- based games, more communicative interactions between students and teachers as well as among peers, and improved attention to verbal instructions. Therefore, song–and games based language learning can serve as an effective instructional strategy for creating active, enjoyable, and student-centered learning environments in cross-cultural language education.

Netizens’ Responses to the Allowances of Members of the Indonesian House of Representatives on TikTok: A Critical Discourse Analysis Based on Norman Fairclough’s Perspective

TikTok social media serves as a medium for expressing criticism of the policies and behavior of state officials. One of these concerns the allowances and facilities received by the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI). This study aims to analyze netizens’ responses to these statements through comments on TikTok social media using Norman Fairclough’s Critical Discourse Analysis (AWK) approach. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type, with data in the form of netizens’ comments on the TikTok accounts @kabar_tvone, @officialnews, @lontara.today, and @kutipan_pemerintah. The results show that there are three dimensions: the first is the text analysis dimension, the second is the social practice dimension, and the third is the discourse practice dimension. In the text dimension, netizens express criticism through sarcasm, irony, and rhetorical questions. In the discourse practice dimension, TikTok functions as a space for discourse battles between the defense of political elites and public approval. Finally, in the social practice dimension, the discourse that emerges reflects economic inequality, social pressure, and the crisis of public trust in the DPR institution. This study confirms that netizens’ comments on TikTok are not only emotional but also constitute a social practice that represents power relations in national life.

The Developing of Interactive Learning Media Using PowerPoint on Intrinsic Elements of Stories for Grade XI Students of SMKN 2 Lamongan

Indonesian language learning on the intrinsic elements of short stories still faces various obstacles, especially the limited use of interactive learning media, which causes students to be less motivated and have difficulty in understanding the material. This study aims to describe the process of developing Cerlita (Cerita Literasi Nusantara) learning media based on interactive PowerPoint for learning the intrinsic elements of short stories for grade XI students at SMKN 2 Lamongan. The study used the Research and Development (R&D) method with the 4D development model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate) developed by Thiagarajan, Semmel, and Semmel. The research subjects were grade XI students of SMKN 2 Lamongan. Data collection was carried out using material expert validation sheets, media expert validation sheets, pre-test and post-test tests, and student response questionnaires. Data were analyzed quantitatively using percentage analysis to determine the level of validity, practicality, and effectiveness of the media. The results showed that the Cerlita media development process was successfully implemented through four stages of the 4D model, namely learning needs analysis, media design, product development and validation, and implementation in learning. The developed media combines materials, images, animations, navigation buttons, and interactive evaluations to create more engaging, interactive, and student-centered learning. Based on the validation, revision, and implementation results, Cerlita media is declared suitable for use as an alternative Indonesian language learning medium for the intrinsic elements of short stories. This media development is expected to increase learning motivation, student engagement, and support the understanding of the intrinsic elements of short stories at the vocational high school level.

Representation of Women’s Roles in the Novel Perempuan yang Menangis kepada Bulan Hitam: An Interdisciplinary Comparative Literature Study

The practice of kawin tangkap (forced abduction marriage) among the Sumbanese people, as portrayed in Dian Purnomo's novel Perempuan yang Menangis kepada Bulan Hitam, represents the struggles of women under patriarchal culture that warrant serious academic inquiry. This study aims to describe the representation of women's roles in the novel, identify its similarities with the concept of women as formulated by Pudjiwati Sajogyo and Gayle Rubin, and explain the differences between them. The method employed is descriptive qualitative with an American school interdisciplinary comparative literature approach through library research. The data source is the novel Perempuan yang Menangis kepada Bulan Hitam (Gramedia Pustaka Utama, 2020), while the concepts of women according to Sajogyo (1983) and Rubin (1975) serve as the comparative framework. Data were collected through close reading and note-taking, then analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana with theoretical triangulation as the validity check. The findings reveal that the novel represents women's roles across five dimensions: as family members, as part of broader society, within customary frameworks, as individuals, and as agents in the struggle against injustice. The narrative affirms the patriarchal framework proposed by Sajogyo and Rubin—such as the practice of women's exchange through marriage that reinforces male dominance—while also introducing new dimensions. The novel portrays women who actively resist subordination, build solidarity among themselves, and challenge oppression through physical expression, written work, and formal legal channels. Thus, Perempuan yang Menangis kepada Bulan Hitam not only reflects patriarchal theory but also enriches the understanding of gender resistance beyond its traditional boundaries.

Actantial Schemes in the Novel Sampar by Albert Camus: A Collective and Dynamic Representation of Actantial Relations

This research aims to describe the actantial schema in Albert Camus’s novel “Sampar” based on A.J. Greimas’s narratological study, focusing on the relations between actants and narrative roles that construct the story’s structure. The approach used is descriptive qualitative, with data consisting of quotes, sentences, and paragraphs from the novel Sampar, translated by N.H. Dini. Data collection techniques included reading, note-taking, and data classification, while data analysis used the interactive model of Miles and Huberman. The research results show that the actantial schema in the novel “Sampar” is collective and dynamic. The function of the subject is not centered on a single character, but is instead carried out alternately by Dr. Bernard Rieux, Jean Tarrou, Rambert, the group of volunteers, and the people of the city of Oran in accordance with the development of Sampar conflict. The object actant gradually evolves from the effort to understand the disease to the struggle to maintain human solidarity. The sender act is evident in situational pressures such as the appearance of dead rats and the increasing number of victims of the epidemic, while the receiver act is dominated by the community experiencing the epidemic’s social and psychological impacts. The helper actant is manifested through knowledge, social solidarity, and collective work, while the opposing actant is not only the epidemic but also social denial and bureaucratic response delays. The most significant finding of this research is that the boundaries between actants are fluid and dynamic, allowing a character to perform more than one actant function within the narrative. This research demonstrates that A.J. Greimas’s narratology is relevant to analyzing novels with collective conflicts and complex narrative structures.

Representation of Local Wisdom Values in the Film Laskar Pelangi by Director Riri Riza

This study aims to describe the structural aspects, local wisdom values of welfare and peace, and character education values in the film Laskar Pelangi directed by Riri Riza. The study was conducted from November 2025 to April 2026. This qualitative study used all scenes and dialogues in the film Laskar Pelangi, with a duration of 1 hour 59 minutes 29 seconds, as the population and sample (primary data source) accessed through the Telegram platform. The main research instrument was the researcher herself, assisted by supporting instruments in the form of data tabulation tables. The data analysis tool used the interactive data analysis technique of the Miles and Huberman model, namely through the stages of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study show: (1) The structural aspects of this film include major and minor themes, flat and round characters, a progressive plot, as well as the setting of place, time, and atmosphere. (2) Local wisdom of welfare includes hard work, education, health, gender management, preservation, and cultural creativity; Meanwhile, local wisdom of peace encompasses politeness, honesty, social solidarity, harmony, commitment, positive thinking, and gratitude. (3) The character education values found include religious, nationalistic, independent, mutual cooperation, and integrity.

Analysis of Body-Shaming Speech in the Comments Column the @Lisamarianaaa Account on Instagram

This study aims to describe the linguistic forms and associative meanings in the comment section of the Instagram account @lisamarianaaa. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive qualitative research type. The data source in this study is body shaming utterances found in the comment section of the Instagram account taken between April and August 2025. Data on linguistic forms and associative meanings in the comment section of the Instagram account @lisamarianaaa were collected using reading, listening, note-taking, and documentation techniques based on non-test instruments, namely structured observation guidelines for the comment section of the account @lisamarianaaa. Data on linguistic forms and associative meanings in the comment section of the Instagram account @lisamarianaaa were analyzed in three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study show that the linguistic forms of body shaming utterances found include four forms, namely words, phrases, and sentences. Furthermore, the associative meanings contained in body shaming utterances include connotative meanings, affective meanings, reflective meanings, and collocative meanings. These meanings indicate that body shaming utterances are not only descriptive, but also contain elements of judgment, emotion, and certain associations.

Assessing the Impact of Gamified Learning on Vocabulary Retention in English Among Students of SMP Negeri 2 Lotu

This study aimed to determine the impact of Quizizz-based gamified learning on English vocabulary retention among eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 2 Lotu and to compare students' vocabulary retention with those taught using conventional methods. The research was conducted at SMP Negeri 2 Lotu, North Nias Regency, during the 2025/2026 academic year. This study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group. The population consisted of all eighth-grade students, while the sample comprised 44 students from two classes selected through cluster sampling: 22 students in the experimental group and 22 students in the control group. Data were collected using a 25-item multiple-choice vocabulary retention test administered as both pre-test and post-test. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Shapiro–Wilk normality test, Levene’s homogeneity test, paired-samples t-test, and independent-samples t-test with IBM SPSS Statistics version 26. The findings revealed that the experimental group showed a substantial improvement in vocabulary retention, with the mean score increasing from 43.09 in the pre-test to 84.00 in the post-test. The paired-samples t-test indicated a significant improvement (p = 0.000 < 0.05). Furthermore, the independent-samples t-test demonstrated a significant difference between the experimental and control groups' post-test scores (p = 0.000 < 0.05). These findings indicate that Quizizz-based gamified learning is more effective than conventional instruction in improving students' English vocabulary retention.

The Meaning and Function of Pa’iya Lo Hungo Lo Poli Oral Literature (Reply Pantun) and Its Contribution to Indonesian Language Learning

This study aims to describe (1) the meaning contained in the oral literature pa’iya lo hungo lo poli (reciprocal pantun), (2) the functions contained in the oral literature pa’iya lo hungo lo poli (reciprocal pantun), and (3) the contribution of the research results in Indonesian language learning. This research was conducted at SMKN 1 Mootilango. The research used a qualitative descriptive method. The research population was all the oral literature pa’iya lo hungo lo poli, while the research sample was in the form of data in the form of words, phrases, sentences, and expressions that contain meaning and function in the oral literature. The research instrument used was the researcher as the main instrument assisted by interview guidelines, recording devices, and data recording sheets. Data collection techniques included interviews, listening, recording, taking notes, reading, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data transcription, data identification, data classification, data analysis, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that there are three types of meaning in the oral literature of pa’iya lo hungo lo poli, namely affective meaning with 32 data, denotative meaning with 27 data, and figurative meaning with 27 data. In addition, three functions of oral literature were found, namely the advice function with 14 data, the satire function with 5 data, and the reprimand function with 7 data. The results also show that the oral literature of pa’iya lo hungo lo poli can contribute to Indonesian language learning at SMKN 1 Mootilango, especially as a teaching material for writing poetry. Through understanding the meaning and function of oral literature, students not only learn the theoretical structure of poetry, but also understand the use of literary works as a means of conveying social criticism, advice, and community hopes.

The Use of Baamboozle Media in Learning Assessment: Identifying the Structure of Observation Report Texts

This study aims to describe the use of Baamboozle media in learning assessment of identifying the structure of observation report texts, describe the learning outcomes of eighth-grade students at SMPN 13 Tibawa, and identify the factors affecting its implementation. This descriptive qualitative research was conducted at SMP Negeri 13 Tibawa during the odd semester of the 2023/2024 academic year. The research subjects involved 1 Indonesian language teacher and all eighth-grade students as informants and data samples. Data collection instruments used included activity observation sheets, interview guides, and quiz assessment documentation. The data analysis tool applied Miles and Huberman’s interactive technique. The results showed that the use of Baamboozle media was considered capable of creating an interactive formative assessment atmosphere and increasing student participation. Based on the evaluation results, all groups (100%) achieved the competent category with final scores ranging from 85 to 100. The main supporting factors were attractive visualization and ease of access, while the inhibiting factors were dominated by internet network connectivity constraints in the classroom area.

This study aims to describe the representation of trauma, loss, and self-defense mechanisms of the main character in the novel 23:59 by Brian Khrisna. The research was carried out from May to June 2026 through a document study using the novel 23:59 by Brian Khrisna as the main data source. The research data is in the form of words, phrases, sentences, dialogues, and narratives that represent the trauma of loss as well as the main character's self-defense mechanism. The research instrument is the researcher himself with the help of a data card as a supporting instrument. Data analysis was carried out using qualitative descriptive methods through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. The validity of the data was tested using theoretical triangulation with reference to literary psychology theory, trauma loss theory, and self-defense mechanism theory. The results of the study show that the representation of the trauma of losing the main character includes six forms, namely physical and psychological disorders, self-blame, trust problems, self-harm, personality changes, and reactivation of trauma due to triggers. In addition, six forms of self-defense mechanisms were found, namely repression, diversion, formation reaction, regression, aggression, and fantasy. The findings of the study show that the trauma of loss is closely related to the emergence of self-defense mechanisms in response to psychological distress until the main character finally reaches the stage of acceptance of the traumatic experience he has experienced.

The method used is a descriptive-analytical approach based on Herman’s perspective on literary psychology. The data source is the play Ayahku Pulang by Usmar Ismail, accessed via the Scribd website. The research data consists of excerpts from dialogue, narration, and actions that depict the symptoms of trauma and the recovery process of the character Gunarto. Data collection was conducted through reading and note-taking. Data analysis was performed by reading and understanding the data, then classifying the data Based on trauma symptoms and the trauma recovery process, this study describes the data found, analyzes the data according to the research focus, interprets the data, and draws conclusions. The results show that the character Gunarto experienced past trauma through three symptoms: intrusion, constriction, and hyperarousal. In addition, the trauma recovery process consists of three stages: rebuilding a sense of safety, remembering and grieving, and rebuilding a connection with life. The recovery process is evident through the character’s independence, the revelation of past suffering, and the emergence of remorse at the end of the story. This study demonstrates that literary works can be analyzed through the psychological issues experienced by the characters.

The Relationship Meaning of Antonyms and Synonyms in the Gorontalo Language

This study aims to describe the forms and meanings of antonyms and synonyms verbs, adverbs, adjectives, and the word circumstances in the Gorontalo language. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method. data collection techniques, namely listening techniques, note-taking, recording, and interview. Data analysis conducted using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The validity of the data in this study was tested through source triangulation. The results of the study indicate (1) antonyms forms in the Gorontalo language consist of absolute antonyms, relative antonyms, and relational antonyms. In the verb class, absolute antonyms are found as many as 6 data and relational antonyms as many as 3 data. In the adverb class, an absolute antonym is found to be 1 data and a relative antonym of 1 data. In the adjective class, absolute antonyms were found to be 11 data and relative antonyms were found to be 16 data. Furthermore, in the word class word circumstances, absolute antonyms were found to be 8 data and relative antonyms were found to be 3 data. (2) synonym forms in the Gorontalo language are found in the class of verbs as many as 6 data, adverbs as many as 5 data, adjectives as many as 17 data, and words circumstances as many as 10 data. Antonyms indicate a relationship of opposing meanings between words, while synonyms indicate a relationship of identical or similar meanings between words in the Gorontalo language.

The Superiority of the Tara Character in the Novel Katarsis by Anastasia Aemilia

The urgency of this research lies in the need to dissect the psychic mechanism of the character Tara through Alfred Adler’s individual psychology theory to understand how feelings of inferiority transform into an ambition for superiority. This study is crucial for providing a new perspective in literary studies regarding how individuals compensate for past wounds or trauma through efforts to achieve superiority. The purpose of this study is to describe the superiority of Tara’s character viewed from the principles of Alfred Adler’s individual psychology in the novel Katarsis by Anastasia Aemilia. The method used is a descriptive qualitative approach utilizing psychology of literature. Data were collected through reading, identifying, coding, and note-taking techniques related to the research. The data source for this study is the novel Katarsis by Anastasia Aemilia. The results showed that there are 22 data points regarding the superiority of Tara’s character in accordance with the principles of Alfred Adler’s individual psychology, including: (1) striving for superiority, seen from Tara’s willingness to visit a psychiatrist and her efforts toward independent learning by reading books; (2) subjective perception, seen from Tara’s efforts to alter the perception of her trauma; (3) unity of personality, seen from her self-controlling attitude; (4) social interest, seen from her expressive attitude, interaction with new people, and helping behavior; (5) style of life, seen from her healthy routines of exercising and taking medication; and (6) creative power of the self, seen from Tara’s ability to analyze other people’s personalities. Based on these results, it can be concluded that Tara is able to achieve superiority by utilizing her weaknesses (inferiority) as fuel or motivation when viewed from the principles of striving for superiority, subjective perception, unity of personality, social interest, style of life, and the creative power of the self.

Analysis of Language Style in a Collection of Poems of Incomplete Fairy Tales by Boy Chandra: Stylistic Study

This study aims to describe the language style in the collection of incomplete fairy tale poems by Boy Candra which are reviewed from the aspects of sound, word aspect, sentence aspect, and semantic aspect. The research was carried out at the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program, Faculty of Letters and Culture, Gorontalo State University in the year of the research. The research population is all texts in the book Tales of Not Intact by Boy Candra, while the research sample is in the form of books entitled incomplete fairy tales. The research instrument uses the researcher as the main instrument with the help of a data logger card. Data collection is carried out through literature techniques, while data analysis uses an interactive analysis model that includes data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. The results of the study showed that language styles based on sound aspects were found as many as 19 data which included rhyme, mesodiplosis, alliteration, and assonance. Based on the word aspect, 11 data were found in the form of simple and communicative diction, emotional diction, and connotative diction. Based on sentence aspects, 22 data were found that included forms of repetition, reversal, and omission. Based on semantic aspects, 56 data were found which included conflict majas, identity majas, and metaphorical majas. The findings of the study show that Boy Candra uses a poetic language style that is simple, modern, communicative, and reflective so that it makes it easier for readers to understand the message conveyed.

Implementation of Teacher Teaching Skills in Indonesian Language Learning at Grade IV Students of SDN 147 Pekanbaru

This research is motivated by the importance of mastering teaching skills as a determinant of the success of Indonesian language learning. Teachers are required to master adequate pedagogical competencies to be able to simplify complex literacy materials to make them easier for students to understand. This study aims to describe the implementation of eight teaching skills in Indonesian language learning for grade IV-C students at SDN 147 Pekanbaru. The method used is a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. The research subjects consisted of one homeroom teacher of grade IV-C and three grade IV-C students. Data were collected through non-participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation studies. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that the grade IV-C teacher of SDN 147 Pekanbaru has implemented the eight teaching skills well. The teacher is able to awaken students’ mental readiness through prayer, ice breaking, and apperception activities. In explaining the material, the teacher uses simple language so that it is easy for students to understand. The use of questioning skills and providing reinforcement has been proven to be effective in increasing student self-confidence. Teachers also maintained student focus through varied stimuli, such as changing teaching positions, and facilitating group discussions using the deskmate method, while not neglecting individual attention for students requiring special guidance. However, closing skills during evaluation activities were not optimally implemented due to the limited time during the day. Overall, teachers have successfully supported the achievement of Indonesian language learning objectives according to the Merdeka Curriculum standards.

The Relationship between Oukup Materials and Ecology and Language in the Karo Batak Ethnic Community: An Ecolinguistic Study

This study examines oukup as a traditional healing practice of the Karo Batak ethnic group through the perspective of ecolinguistics. Oukup not only functions as a form of health therapy but also reflects a complex ecological knowledge system that has been transmitted across generations. Each oukup ingredient embodies ecological, cultural, and linguistic values that represent the reciprocal relationship between humans and nature. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques consisting of observation, interviews, and documentation conducted in Rumah Kabanjahe Village, Karo Regency, North Sumatra. The data were analyzed through the stages of collection, reduction, display, and verification interactively to produce an ecological mapping of oukup materials.The findings reveal 34 plant species categorized into four ecological groups based on their proximity to human settlements: very near (10 species), near (21 species), far (3 species), and very far (none found). This classification not only reflects spatial distance but also signifies the social and spiritual attachment of the community to its environment. The Karo language plays a crucial role in documenting ecological knowledge through a floral lexicon that serves as a linguistic ecology map. This study emphasizes that the preservation of oukup cannot rely solely on its medical aspect but requires a participatory ecolinguistic approach that integrates language preservation, plant conservation, and cultural revitalization. Thus, oukup serves as a representation of the harmonious relationship between humans, language, and nature within the cultural cosmos of the Karo Batak community.

The Marginalized Communities Life in the Drama Script Mega-Mega by Arifin C. Noer: A Sociological Study of Swingewood Literature

This study aims to analyze the representation of the lives of marginalized groups depicted in the drama script Mega-Mega by Arifin C. Noer, by applying the theoretical framework of the sociology of literature developed by Alan Swingewood. Specifically, this study attempts to describe the portrait of the lives of marginalized groups while examining the socio-economic conditions reflected in the literary work. The study uses a qualitative descriptive approach supported by content analysis techniques, with data sources in the form of fragments of words, sentences, and dialogues in the script that are relevant to the theme of marginality. The research findings reveal that the Mega-Mega script represents the bitter reality of marginalized groups who are shackled by structural poverty, minimal access to welfare, and the erosion of their self-esteem in an unequal social structure. Within the framework of Swingewood’s sociology of literature, this work is positioned as an authentic record of social reality that also functions as a vehicle for criticism of systems that do not side with small communities. This research is expected to enrich the treasury of sociological studies of literature, especially in the realm of analyzing works that carry the themes of poverty and social marginalization.

Psychological Trauma of Characters in the Novel Salt To The Sea by Ruta Sepetys and Pulang by Leila S Chudori

This study aims to describe the forms and impacts of psychological trauma on characters in the novels Salt To The Sea by Ruta Sepetys and Pulang by Leila S. Chudori. Both novels represent traumatic experiences born from different historical backgrounds, namely World War II and the Indonesian political tragedy of 1965. The study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive analysis method. Data are in the form of dialogue excerpts, narratives, inner monologues, and character actions that show symptoms of psychological trauma. Data collection was carried out through literature studies, while the analysis uses the perspective of Cathy Caruth’s literary psychology. The results show that trauma in Salt To The Sea is acute due to the threat of war and is characterized by guilt, fear, shame, anxiety, and avoidance behavior experienced by Joana, Florian, Emilia, and Alfred. Meanwhile, trauma in Pulang is chronic due to political exile, social stigma, and disconnection from the homeland, which is shown through alienation, identity crises, childhood wounds, and loss of emotional ties in Dimas Suryo, Lintang Utara, Segara Alam, and Bimo Nugroho. This trauma affects the emotional condition, thought patterns, behavior, and social relationships of the characters. The research findings show that psychological trauma in both novels represents the impact of historical experiences that shape the characters’ identities and responses to life.

The Relationship Between the Intensity of Playing Online Games and the Narrative Writing Skills of Sixth Grade Students at state Elementary School 138 Pekanbaru Using

This study aims to determine the relationship between the intensity of playing online games and the narrative writing skills of sixth-grade students at State Elementary School 138 Pekanbaru. The study was conducted at SDN 138 Pekanbaru in February 2026 with the population of this study being all sixth-grade students, while the research sample taken was 47 students. Sampling was carried out using a simple random sampling technique. The research instrument used to collect data was a questionnaire sheet to measure the variable of the intensity of playing online games and a written test instrument in the form of creating a narrative text on a certain theme to measure the writing skill variable. The tools and techniques of data analysis in this correlational quantitative study used descriptive statistics, analysis prerequisite tests (normality test and linearity test), and Pearson Product Moment correlation test assisted by the IBM SPSS Statistics program. The results of the descriptive statistical study showed that the intensity of playing online games of sixth-grade students was on average in the moderate category of 62.26%. Meanwhile, the results of the assessment of students' narrative writing skills were also mostly in the moderate category of 61.70%. The results of the correlation test analysis showed a correlation coefficient value of r count of 0.317 with a sig value of 0.222. Because the sig value is greater than 0.05 (0.222 > 0.05), it can be concluded that there is no significant relationship or correlation between the intensity of playing online games and narrative writing skills in grade VI students of SDN 138 Pekanbaru, with the strength of the relationship between variables being relatively low.

Representation of Social Life in the Novel Bekisar Merah by Ahmad Tohari Literature Sosiology Study

his research stems from the close relationship between literature and social conditions in society. As a form of literature, novels not only serve as a means of entertainment but also reflect various social issues that arise in society. This research aims to explain the representation of social life in Ahmad Tohari’s novel Bekisar Merah, by considering the author’s social context, literature as a mirror of society, and the social function of literature according to Ian Watt’s perspective on the sociology of literature. The approach applied in this research is a descriptive analytical approach with a focus on the sociology of literature. The data source used was obtained from the twelfth edition of the novel Bekisar Merah, published in 2025 by Gramedia Pustaka. The data analyzed included quotations that show the depiction of social life in the novel. The data collection method was carried out through reading and note-taking techniques, while data analysis was carried out by reading, grouping, describing, analyzing, and interpreting data based on Ian Watt’s theory. The research findings show that this novel reflects the social life of village communities affected by poverty, social injustice, economic inequality, community culture, and women’s issues. In addition, this novel also contains social functions in the form of social criticism, moral values, and religious values. In other words, the novel Bekisar Merah is not just entertainment, but also functions as a medium for reflection on the social life of society.

Social and Cultural Issues in the Novels Laut Bercerita and Namiya Zakkaten No Kiseki: A Sociological of Literature

Laut Bercerita is one of the many acclaimed novels by Leila S. Chudori. It was published in 2017 by Kepustakaan Populer Gramedia in Jakarta, Indonesia, and spans 379 pages. The novel Namiya Zakkaten No Kiseki (The Miracles of the Namiya General Store) is a work by Keigo Higashino; it was published in 2017 by Kadokawa Shoten in Japan.This study aims to describe the social and cultural issues in the novel Laut Bercerita by Leila S. Chudori and Namiya Zakkaten No Kiseki by Keigo Higashino through Alan Swingewood’s sociology of literature approach. This research employed a descriptive qualitative method with a comparative literature approach. The data consisted of quotations, sentences, and dialogues that reflect social and cultural life in both novels. The results show that Laut Bercerita portrays political injustice, authoritarian repression, social trauma, and the culture of solidarity in Indonesian society during the New Order era. Meanwhile, Namiya Zakkaten No Kiseki portrays loneliness, social alienation, and the values of empathy in modern Japanese society. The similarity between the two novels lies in their depiction of humanity and social relationships in society. The differences are found in the social and cultural backgrounds that influence the conflicts in the stories. Through Alan Swingewood’s sociology of literature approach, both novels can be understood as reflections of the social and cultural life of their respective societies and eras.
